WESTERN PERFORMANCE HORSE PHOTOGRAPHER

Anna Krause

I am a 30-year-old wife, mama, horse lover (of course), and photographer. I’m married to my wonderfully supportive husband, Kris, and together we have our 4-year-old son named Lane.

We live in the Sierra Foothills of California, in a small town called Valley Springs. We have 3 horses: Quin, Oreo and Iggy. Pictured over there to the left with me is Quin, my little heart horse. Quin is a 18-year-old registered Quarter Horse who was trained as a cowhorse. She has spent her recent years being retired and loved on, with scratches & cuddles being some of her most favorite things. And! Most exciting - she is currently in foal to Brother Jackson for a 2021 baby.

I fell in love with horses at a very young age, but didn’t begin riding until I was 12. I was actually a little terrified of horses when I was little, but was introduced to horseback riding as a therapeutic outlet after the loss of my dad. It didn’t take long for me to discover how fun (addicting?) they are to be around, and I developed a really strong passion for understanding them. Horses have so many wonderful and individual characteristics, and I found myself wanting to capture that and share it with others – especially with the people that love them.

ON REPEAT

my current favorites

I've worked at two different dog kennels, and always adored the English Labs that would stay. Now we have two of them - Sully (pictured) & Sissy.

ENGLISH LABS ARE MY FAVORITE BREED OF DOGS.

NO.3

Those Facebook memes teasing about red mares? Not true about Quin because there is not a mean bone in her body.

I mean, just look at them. I remember when I used to pray for what I have now, and those two over there are it. So blessed.
